1.5a OBD II ELM327 USB CAN-BUS Scanner
OBD-II Software for ELM327 USB is a free program that allows you to use your PC and a hardware interface to get the information from your car's computer.
The program is very user-friendly, and easy to learn. It is also very easy to install: simply extract the files into a folder on your computer's hard drive, and you're ready to go. To uninstall the program, simply delete the entire contents of the folder where the program resides.

You get what you pay for, and what you are paying for here is what I would call the minimal hardware implementation of the ELM327. You are not paying for the software, basically. After a year, the device does not want to connect, using any free software. The software that came with it, I updated, and it recognized this as a knock off and refuses to connect.
So, you get crappy software, and hardware that is fluky.

Bought this item and it works as described. Software that comes with it leaves alot to be desired. Hooked it up to my laptop, installed software, and able to use within 20 min. This item worked on my 98 Dodge Ram, 00 Dodge Intrepid, and 98 Honda Accord. Does not work on Porsche! Much better than buying an OBD2 scanner from Autozone for a $100 or more!

This is a general ELM327 ODB 2 connector and it does connect to a lot of vehicles for listing general errors
Pros:
* Can connect to any vehicle after 1996
* Diagnose error codes on most vehicles(Cars, Trucks, Vans, SUVs)
Cons:
* Additional software can help get more functionality from the device

it only has demo software
the device insn't compatible whith chevy protocols

bought this thinking id be able to pick up a code on a 99 firebird,go to find out this is a bad copy of a elm ..elm scanners are only at 1.2 go to find out ,,why would you even sell this,not even worth wasting my time to ship it back,,guess ya get what ya pay for right? 1.5a OBD II ELM327 USB CAN-BUS Scanner this will not read a code period!
