5Works great for me!Jul 29, 2010
By D. Matheny
I am using this backup camera on a 2009 Nissan Frontier with a Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT receiver. I love the convenience of having a backup camera and have found the picture quality to be better than the factory backup camera that came in our Honda van. Also, this camera does reverse the image so it looks correct in my display - which is great.

The install time was about 2 hours, mostly just working on running the wires from the license plate into the cab. The extension cable is 23' long, which should make it long enough for most installs. I do wish the extension cable had been wrapped in a wire guard for running under the truck.

The supplied bolts for the camera need to be screwed down from behind the license plate; so, it can be a bit awkward, but should provide some level of theft deterrence. Since it does use bolts, and my truck had lag screws, I had to drill out the existing holes with a 1/4" bit in order to get it attached.

Unfortunately, although the product works great, I found the installation manual a bit lacking. The install wasn't too hard, but here are some things I learned along the way:

1) There is a little sleeve that is mentioned in the package contents, but is never mentioned in the directions. That sleeve can be put over the connectors between the license plate cable and the extension cord. After sliding it over the connectors, use a blow dryer to shrink it down over the wires and it will make the connection more stable and weather resistant.

2) The extension cable itself is just an s-video cable. Therefore, if you need it to be a bit longer, just get an s-video extension or another s-video cable with a coupler.

3) On the radio end, there is an adapter that attaches to the extension cable and breaks it out into an RCA video feed as well as two wires that are red and black. (The red one should go to a 12v power source and the black should go to ground.) In my case I needed to extend the video feed just a couple of feet longer, so I used an RCA coupler together with another RCA video cable that I already had.

Overall, I'm very impressed with this product and highly recommend it.

4Great backup camera!Apr 01, 2010
By Chris Long
This license plate backup camera works great! The picture is great day or night on my Pioneer Z110BT. The product is well made and sturdy. The only negative is that the install is a little involved. I needed to take apart many of the panels on the inside of the vehicle to run the wire up to the front, and it ended up being just a little too short. I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was able to run the wire a little differently to get the wire length to work for me. The mounting bolts also must be tightened from the inside of the tailgate, but that does make it highly resistant to theft. All in all, it is a good product and I would buy it again.

5Very good cameraAug 31, 2010

This camera has a very sharp image for its price range. Also viewing at night is not a problem. The vehicle's back up lights provide enough illumination for the camera to do it's job. Installation was very easy. The most time consuming part of the install was locating the reverse power lead in the vehicle's wiring harness. This model has a very slim profile, you can't even tell that it's there unless you know what to look for. I bought a black license plate frame to match the camera and that made it practically disappear. Overall I am very pleased.

5FANTASTIC CAMERA!!! The reviews are all true!Dec 06, 2010
By DW "DW"
Before buying this camera I read all the reviews and they were true. This is a great little, very high quality back up camera. It does not cost much more than the others but I think it is a far better value. The low light image quality is shockingly good. My vehicle has reverse lights and even at night, I can clearly see very well. The clarity, and wide angle make this unit excellent.

Important points...

- Being small and slim, it doesn't block the top of the license plate like many other cameras do. With other cameras you can get tickets in some states if you block any part of the license plate!

- Running the wire/installing can be a little tricky so you might need to get creative- I recommend a professional installer.

***ONE CAVEAT***
Although the viewing angles are great (wide and deep), the image does not accurately depict how near you are to an object at all. Also, this camera DOES NOT HAVE GUIDELINES either so you have to be careful when backing up. It will look like you are 5 feet away from the car behind you when it is more like 5 inches! I don't really blame the camera though because I think it is a trade off you have to make. I would prefer the clear, wide image over a more compressed image. Just be aware that images with this camera are definitely much closer than they will appear.

5Great CameraApr 11, 2011
By Edgar J. Miranda
Made of metal, not flimsy plastic. The construction surprised the local guys who installed it.

I have it connected to a Pioneer AVH-P3200BT and it works great. I got the installers to set it up so that the reverse gear would trigger it.

The camera reverses the image automatically, so you will see what you are supposed to, no confusion by optics or further setup required for this.

For my brazilian made Toyota Corolla 2007 I had to drill the plate hole 0.5 cm for it to fit, but not complicated at all.

Now it is almost unnoticeable unlike some other I have seem.

Another plus is the fact that you can tilt it and adjust for the perfect angle of viewing depending on your car.
