I have used this mount with my Moultrie Spy I-40 and it works great. Only the lower gimble mount is needed for the Spy I-40. It screws directly into the bottom of the camera housing, so the back plate will not be used. Adjustments are made with ease and it locks the camera position in rock solid!!! I have purchased an additional mount along with another Spy I-40, because they have worked so well.

I purchased this primarily because I wanted the screw-in gimble mount for the Moultrie security box that I purchased. When I would try to tighten the adjustment screw, it wouldn't lock the ball joint of the mount in place and my camera wouldn't stay in one place at all. I had to disassemble the mount and cut two circular pieces of aluminum sheet metal to insert into the mount so when the adjustment screw was tightened, it would secure the ball joint in place. It works perfectly now, but I shouldn't have had to engineer it to work. It should've worked right out of the box. Now I may have just been unlucky and this is a one-off incident, but this was my experience and if you experience the same issue, all you need to do is make a couple thin spacers and it'll lock it into place perfectly.

The Moultrie camera holder is a good holder, but i found that the backing is worthless and the tree peg is junk as far as screwing into a tree. I found using a tree peg first then using the one they give you works better.

In a matter of minutes this was setup in the tree and dialing in the camera. The ball swivel is perfect for setting the camera just right, up, down and around. It is also very solid once you tighten it.
