I hope that when a fire strikes, and the the sprinklers go off that my goods will be protected. I am worried however because every time I close this document protector for an extended period of time, I open it to find moist documents. California is a fairly dry climate. I'm really not sure why this is happening, but I put my documents in a ziplock bag. Hopefully that will keep them safe from the safe.

5Good & sturdy productJan 10, 2008

A Christmas present for our 12 year old son. It's heavy and sturdy. He keeps all his valuable stuff, i.e. wallet, video games, Nintendo DS, etc., in it and locks it up. He broke one of the keys already. So be carefull when you turn the key.

5Great safeJun 28, 2008

This safe is larger and heavier than I thought and looks to be very well made. You have to lock it with the key. We put it inside our fire-resistant file cabinet for added protection.

4I can only assume it works...May 12, 2008
By J. Wiehe "jw"
I think this is a great product, because I luckily haven't needed to test it out. It has ample space to keep documents and jewelry in it, but it should be only considered for fire safety, not to keep the bad guys out. It's very mobile and if someone broke into your house, they could grab it in an instant. Plus, there is a little number on the front of the lock, that is you call the manufacturer with the number and get a duplicate key.

Hopefully, I won't have to really use this product, but I am happy with the size of it and understand it's limitations.

I really won't know if this product works unless I try to set it on fire so...

But it does come with a silica gel pack so make sure you keep that with your valuables to keep it from getting wet. I bought another set just in case and keep that in there too and have not had issues other raters are complaining about.
