| | | | Self Defense | Home » » Gabriel Suarez CLOSE-RANGE GUNFIGHTING Reality-Based Firearms Training for Realistic Situations | | | | | | | Description: | | Owning a firearm and going to the range a couple times to shoot a few rounds will not prepare you to actually use your gun in a real gun fight. While most people will never be faced with such a reality, some will. If you want to be prepared for the realities of a gunfight, you must train for them. In Close-Range Gunfighting: Reality-Based Firearms Training for Realistic Situations, combat shooting instructor Gabriel Suarez teaches the skills needed to use your weapon for combat.
The running time for the two DVDs is 195 minutes, and during this time Suarez basically covers the skills he teaches in his live classes. The goal of his classes is to replicate real world situations through the training environment. This two volume set teaches you how to go about the same training.
Each lesson is well taught. Suarez speaks well and demonstrates everything he teaches. The segments are concluded with a review section that makes it easy to remember the main points he was instructing. The entire set is well filmed and edited and ranks with some of the best shooting instruction videos I have seen. | | | Features: | |

A combat focused instructionalNov 04, 2010
By Liberty or Death Gabe Suarez's first DVD was a quantum leap in the field of fight-focused training back when it was released in '05.
Since that time, much of what is being taught in his line of classes has been fine tuned and improved upon, thanks to his never ending research and cross pollinating his knowledge/experience with renowned instructors from other fields (knife, stick, Filipino Martial Arts, Russian Spetznas vets, etc)
Still, this DVD provides a solid foundational guide to serve as a checklist for the basic skills needed to master the pistol marksmanship fundamentals. The second part of the DVD goes on to illustrate the considerable divergence between square range training ( which is, of necessity, dictated by a combination of safety requirements and the limits of all but the very advanced student of combative gun handling) while introducing the viewer to a whole new paradigm and resultant skill set required to prevail in any deadly force encounter.
Where most training programs begin and end presumes that the trainee will be able to dictate the crucial pre-combat conditions and tempo of an attack. Perhaps, for military and LEOs who are operating under optimal conditions with a (more or less) clearly defined enemy and battlefield.
For the CCW civilian and the isolated mil/LEO who is suddenly ambushed (it's worth noting that in order for a civilian shooting to be legally justifiable, it has to be a result of an immediate and unavoidable deadly threat), the types of traditional techniques being taught for what is , in essence, pre-emptive scenarios where the defender has the initiative, is worse than useless since it provides the partially trained student with the false confidence that his/her tactical tool box is complete. In reality, such mental and physical tools (read: hard skills) would fall apart under the pressure of a sudden attack.
The greatest value to this DVD is that it will provide some important skill sets for those who wish to complement more traditional (and critical) range training with a Tactical Triad template geared towards fighting from a position of being behind the power curve of an attack.
Anyone who is a serious student of combative weaponry and related tradecraft should view this DVD. Including those who's primary weapon is the knife, stick, or empty hand.

joke.Nov 04, 2010
By real. Like many combat vets, I found this book and this author to be a fake. He has not only been guilty of multiple felony charges, he was FIRED from the police force he worked for. This is a fact, do a search on the author and you will find this info rather easily. Now for the book. It is a joke, and a real possible way to get yourself killed in a real life situation. The author uses airsoft pistols for training as he is not allowed by law to touch a real gun. Now would you pay top dollar for a training course from a guy of this standing? Or even listen to him in the first place? Sadly, there are to many of these so called "elite warriors" out there who are milking good people of their money. Save your money, search out a proper training course from a person who has real backround in this field. This book and DVD are far from worth it.
