It has been, and still is, a very difficult process to get people to understand stalking laws.

We bought this book because we needed to learn how to help ourselves...and to assist others to understand what can be done.

Dective Proctor's book has helped us through the maze. This is a book to read and then pass it around. Especially to people who really need to "Get It."

We recommend this book highly.
Mike Proctor really cares about his work both as a detective and author.
It is fantastic to have someone who understands.

Up until right now, I read couple books on stalking behaviour, this one is one of the best I have ever read, it is very srong in defining the behaviour, lots of examples are given which may help you better understand the behaviour. If you are the stalking victim this book might help you save your own life. I strongly recommend this book anyone who wants to deal with stalking behaviour effectively.

This is a must read book for every adult, especialy women. Dective Proctor opened my eyes to the crime of stalking. Dectective Proctor wrote a no-nonsense, easy to read and understand book, packed full of information and easy to follow steps for your personal safety.
He explains who and why people stalk. I found this book to be very informative. This is one of the best books I have read in a long time.

I expected a work on stalking to be very dry and difficult to get through. This book,however, was extremely interesting,informative and easy to read. It is the sort of book that the normal man in the street could read and apply as easily as someone who is more knowledgeable about the subject. A wonderful handbook for anyone having troubles of this nature and a wothwhile read for any safety conscious individual.

How to Stop a Stalker is the best-ever resource for stalking victims, their family members, employers, victim advocates, law enforcement and prosecutors. Det. Proctor's advice and suggestions are realistic and clear. He explains how stalkers operate and the many steps that victims can take to protect themselves at home, at work and when traveling in their car.

It takes an experienced and skilled detective to discuss so many safety strategies, legal remedies and practical tips. For example, he has included specific instructions on the best type of deadbolt locks to purchase and install, how to utilize a private mail-drop most effectively, and the items that a stalking victim should carry in the car at all times. He has described the court process from start to finish in layperson's terms. He has illustrated the benefits and disadvantages of a restraining order from the victim's point of view, but sets out the genuine advantages restraining orders provide to law enforcement. He has provided advice on how a victim can work successfully with law enforcement and prosecutors to stop the stalker.

How to Stop a Stalker is the most practical and clearly written guide I have seen. I recommend it to all stalking victims and those who work with them
