Description:

The Kappa 682.9cf 5""x7""/6""x8"" speakers feature light, but stiff woven glass-fiber woofer cones that won't flex or distort. The Plus One design offers a larger surface area for improved low-frequency output and efficiency, while longer voice coils produce tighter, snappier bass. Large magnets keep the woofers running cooler by placing more steel close to the voice coils to act as a heat sink.

Infinity uses the same Metal Matrix Diaphragm tweeter found in many of their popular home speakers, so you'll hear the music the way it was recorded with minimal coloration or distortion. The dome tweeters pivot, allowing you to adjust them for better stereo imaging.

The computer-optimized outboard crossover networks employ audiophile-grade components to separate highs and lows, so that the woofer and tweeter work together perfectly. Pre-wired crossovers eliminate a time-consuming step in your installation, and terminals at the end of the crossover wires screw directly to the speakers, leaving no chance for incorrect wiring.

3Great speaker, but....Mar 20, 2009
By Dave
These speakers sound fantastic. Amazing range and response! However, the stupid external crossover has caused no end of trouble for me. You don't have a lot of space to work with in a car door, so having that extra dangling box is a pain. Especially if the power window decides to catch on it and tear the thing right off. It wouldn't be too hard for Infinity to attach the crossover to the speaker itself and save worlds of trouble. If not for this design issue this speaker would get 5 stars. If you're thinking about putting them in a door with a power window, make EXTRA sure the glass won't come near where the crossover is.

5Oh...my...god.Jan 17, 2009

Simply put, these speakers will knock your face off. I had 4 of these (2 front, 2 back) installed in my Mustang that replaced my old Pioneer 6x8's. What an upgrade. The difference was night and day. I use the Infinity's as my source of mids and highs with 2 12" Kicker Comp VR's for my lows. I can't make a judgment on how these produce bass, because that's not what I use them for. I also have these speakers powered by a Power Acoustik 4-channel amp to really give em' some juice. The clarity of these speakers just amazes me daily. My bass used to overpower the rest of the sound with my old Pioneers. Now I can hear singing, drums, and guitar extremely clearly, even with the bone shaking bass that I have going and all with zero distortion. My only complaint is that I wish I would have bought these sooner. I got 2 pairs off of eBay for $60 each, brand new. Try bargain shopping before you shell out $100 a pair for these. Even though they're worth their full retail price, you can get them pretty cheap.

5 star rating without a doubt. Stop reading this review and buy these!

5Great Speakers!Jul 25, 2010

After careful review of speakers that would fit in my 2010 Ford Edge, I purchased 2 pair of these - front and rear replacements. What a difference from the stock speakers! The most notable thing about these is the clarity of the sound they produce. The rotating adjustable tweeter is perfect for tailoring the speakers for the mounting positions around the car. With the adjustments to these, it removes the needs for component tweeters to be mounted separately and allowed me to keep the stock look of the interior. I highly recommend these for someone looking to improve the sound inside an Edge without having to replace the factory head unit. I am extremely satisfied with these.

5Worth The Price.Aug 17, 2011

So I took my time and did the research on an encomical upgrade from the terrible factory speakers in my new F-150. Wow what a difference. Mids and Highs are crisp and clear without any distortion. I just ordered a replacement stereo to see what these speakers will really sound like!

5Good sound easy installFeb 21, 2011
By clayl187
I bought two sets of these for my 2004 Excursion after a recommendation from a friend. I have the front seat pair installed and the difference from the stock speakers is phenomenal. I may have to also replace the 3rd seat pair so that I have all three sets of speakers the same.

Install was a snap and took about 15 minutes per speaker. Make sure that you use a zip tie (not included) to lash down the "dangly thing" so it does not get caught up in the window when you roll it down.
