 Works for Kryptonite New York FahgettaboutitAug 21, 2010

If you're using the Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboutit "Mini" U-lock [ Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboutit Mini Bicycle U-Lock (3.25 x 6-Inch)] then this is the mount you want. Searched all over the web and could not find any mention of this - don't know why not. If you read the details, this mount is only supposed to fit locks with shackles up to 15 mm diameter, and the NY Fahgettaboutit has an 18 mm shackle -- so you would THINK that this won't fit. Wrong.
Here's what you do - buy this bracket for $5, then go to your hardware store, buy TWO M4 30mm screws. This will cost you about a dollar. Use these to replace the screws that come with the bracket - they are just too short.
If you use two M4 30 mm screws to mount the bracket to your shackle, you'll see that it works just great. At this point, I've used the bracket for four weeks, I ride 6 days a week. It's a great mount. I'll have to update this review if it unexpectedly breaks. Originally I also used two short pieces of 3/4" wide Velcro "One-Wrap" to secure my NY Fahg.. lock to the frame of the bike - just as an added precaution in case the mount would break. After a couple of weeks I just stopped doing that, when I had more confidence that the mount was holding just fine. But if you want extra reassurance, the Velco One-Wrap is REALLY strong stuff, and by itself can support heavy items on the bike.
This is a great mount for the NYF lock, and to my knowledge, the ONLY mount you'll find that will actually work. I've posted up some pictures just to prove it.

When I first bought this bracket, I mounted it on the top tube of my bike. I wanted to do this because that leaves my seat tube free of obstructions (easier to mount on a stand, carry around, etc).
Unfortunately, since this bracket does not have any kind of a locking mechanism, over time the lock would start to slip out when in this position. Since it's not very much fun to have your lock come flying off your bike in the middle of a city street, I moved the bracket to the seat post. Since it's vertical now, the lock has no issues coming out of the bracket, however this is less than ideal for me.
If you are looking for a bracket to mount in a horizontal orientation, find another one--preferably one with a locking mechanism.

This device will work with large locks but the retention device relies on a small amount of friction to hold it on. When you go down a curb or up an sharp incline there's about a 50% chance of it bouncing off. The unit is strong and well designed but no locking retention. Its the only thing I've found to work with the Kryptonite New York Series lock, but as I said; a lock with a larger mass will fall off more easily. Thus a huge liability in traffic for the ease of losing the lock in front of a car, damaging the lock, or losing it all together. This will happen on any bike with any type of suspension in any condition above slow-paced riding. Do not underestimate this warning.

Fits Fahgettaboudit, but lacks instructionsAug 10, 2011

nice and sturdy! Like others have mentioned you might want to get 2 4m 30mm flathead screws for the part you install onto your ubar if you are putting it on kryptonites fahgettaboudit. It fit with the stock screws without buying the 4m 30mm screws. But if you don't buy the two 4m 30mm screws the stock ones wont get much of a bite into the threads(meaning it is much easier to lose your lock).
THIS PRODUCT LACKS INSTRUCTIONS. It is not packed with anything telling you how it works.... I found the instructions on masterlocks site by searching google for masterlock 8351d. They have a pdf that shows how it works in detail. Here is the link.

Like another reviewer, I first attached the bracket to my top tube. But without a locking mechanism, simple road vibrations caused it to slip out, dropping my Kryptonite Fahgettaboutit Mini u-lock in heavy traffic. Not good. I then attached it to my seatpost. After riding one mile, I got off my bike and checked the bracket. I discovered that the bracket was actually breaking in half merely from carrying the weight of my u-lock (although it weighs only 4.6 lbs). If you have a *very* light lock, perhaps this will work on your seatpost. I wouldn't use it though, regardless of the weight.
