McGruff the Crime Dog on Gun Safety

One of the most important lessons a child can learn is how to properly act should they encounter an unsecured firearm. Whether at their home, at school or at a friend's or relative's home, learning the right response to such encounters helps ensure that a child will have the confidence to make correct decisions and to make such decisions promptly and decisively. To assist educators in teaching children about correct behavior when encountering a firearm, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, in cooperation with the National Crime Prevention Council offers this safety video featuring the well-known safety character, McGruff the Crime Dog. Educators and children together can watch McGruff explain to his nephew Scruff how to deal with encountering an unsecured firearm. McGruff delivers an important and compelling safety lesson in clear language and images in a video designed especially for viewing by young children.
