1Utterly unreliable piece of garbageJan 09, 2009
By Long Beach Native
I'm happy and amazed that the other reviewer has had good success with his biometric Wall Vault - but I've had nothing but frustration for the past year. I've reprogrammed and reset this device endlessly, and sometimes it seems like it's working reliably. But sure enough, the next time I need access it won't let me in. More often than not, I've had to retrieve the emergency key and use that to get into my safe. As I said, I've reset the thing and started fresh many times, so it's not as if I just did a poor initial fingerprint registration.

If you want to throw the dice and see if this works for you, good luck. But UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU USE THIS SAFE FOR A GUN OR ANY OTHER ITEM YOU MAY NEED QUICK ACCESS TO.

I would recommend the presumably-much-more-reliable keypad combination version of this safe, if you like the "wall vault" concept but don't want to risk the crappy technology of the biometric reader.

Incidentally, I use an eKey fingerprint reader to get into my front door, and it's proven to be extremely reliable -- so there are good fingerprint readers on the market, but the biometric Wall Vault is not one of them.

5Quick to open, reliable fingerprint recognition.Aug 23, 2008
By Pistol Pete "gtfnra.org"
I've bought one of these so far and have a bid on another. I paid less than $400.00 dollars for my first brand new one and though I wouldn't pay more than $400.00 dollars for one, I do recommend this product. It can easily be covered with a painting or other wall covering if you want it hidden. If you require fast access to a fire arm or other small item, then this product is for you. I've looked at other wall safes, especially biometric access and this one seems to be one of the fastest and most reliable. It's also not as noisy as some others. Though it does make noise when the door slides open. It opens by gravity, so it needs to be vertical.

I'm going to add other wall safes to my home, but this is the one that will be in my bedroom for the things that go bump in the night.

5satisfied userNov 25, 2009

The unit is as advertised. Installed per directions, no problems. The fingerprint sensor, like all the others I have used, tends to have its' own personality so I had to practice with it over several days to get it to open within the first two seconds. Even if the sensor does fail due to nerves or panic etc. the keypad is right there. Excellent product.

4Not bad, would reccomendFeb 16, 2011

I received my safe today. Installation took about 30 minutes. The hardest part was putting in the 2 lower screws which are located under the secret compartment so getting a drill in there was very tricky. Ended up only using 3 out of the 4 screws because the last one would not go in, but it is well secured.

Manual was straightforward and accurate. Programmed admin finger print easily and then programmed 2 more of my fingers, one on my left hand in case the other hand was damaged or cut off :) (you never know). Had my wife enter 2 of her fingers as well. After I got the feel for it, I was able to open with finger about 98% of the time on first try, if not first try, it would work on 2nd try. 2nd try only adds another 2-3 seconds, still much faster than finding and unlocking a gun. With practice, I am sure I will be at 100%.

Battery is charging now, did not have problems as others did with burning. I like the idea of having 3 ways to open (finger, 5 digit admin code or manual key) although the key option requires a good hiding place for the key, and you need an alan wrench to take of the logo hiding key hole. I suppose you could just keep the logo off, but then others would be aware there is a key hiding somewhere. I will experiment with some kind of magnet to cover the hole which will allow quick access to key in emergency.

I am currently storing one loaded .45, 50 rounds and a spare full clip. When the safe opens, it does give a loud THUD when the door hits the bottom, but if you put a hand underneath, you can catch it making it almost silent. I do not like the beeping that occurs when you open the safe. You have to press * first before scanning finger and you get a beep there and when it opens. You would think they would give an option to silence the beeping, poor design there, but I can live with that I guess. As long as I can get my gun in 2-3 seconds and it is ready to go, I am happy. That beats finding my keys, going to get my case, opening case, taking off the gun lock and then inserting clip and chambering round.

I would recommend this safe to others that want quick access to protection, it has a few flaws as stated, but overall, it does the job.

5SecureLogic Biometric Wall SafeFeb 24, 2010
By DM "DMaister"
Sorry to hear others have had problems with this safe...possibly u received a bad one. I've had mine for about a year now and it works flawlessly and looks great on the wall. It opens when i need to it on the first try. The trick is to registrar ur fingerprints at different placement levels. That way if u r in a hurry and don't have time to place ur fingers on properly...the sensor will at least pick up one of ur pre-registered finger placement. I have at least 3 placement programmed in and works every time. I would highly recommend this safe.
