Missing in action 2Jun 05, 2010
By E. Boland I also had the same problem. I checked the lock before I left the house and it was secure.. meaning I tugged on it and it would not budge. I did this because I read the "Missing in Action" post. When I got home the lock was gone....I plan to contact someone as this should not happen...
Update.... I am raising my rating due to Softride's customer service. I emailed Softride and they are sending me out a new lock. I called and spoke to Jeff per his email, and he stated that is important to install the lock on the pin before tightening the bolt....helps ensure the lock seats right. I will follow this sequence of steps and see if helps.

Missing in actionSep 07, 2009

I secured the pin and lock very easily and it seemed like it was all set. I drove about 3 hours and checked it and it was fine. I drove another 3 hours and the lock piece was gone. So be very very very carefull when you put on the lock. I was very carefull and I was 100% sure it was on correctly. So check it several times to make sure it is definitely secure. The pin alone will still keep your item attached so there is no safety issue.

Did exactly what I wanted it to do.Aug 03, 2009
By D. Finch I had a bumper hitch before so I never experienced the "clanking" or "yanking" of a regular hitch system. After about 4 trips dealing with the clanking & yanking and stopping to double check that everything was okay, I had had enough. After doing a couple hours of online research I decided on the Softride 25219 QuietRide Hitch Pin. The price was reasonable and the comments I read lead me to this choice. The installation was quick & simple. The results were as advertized. I no longer have the clanking and no longer feel the yanking. Quit looking and buy this product.

Works great for hollow stingers!Nov 09, 2008

The Softride Quietride Hitch Pin works very well to stop the clunks that occured on my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The receiver is too large, letting every stinger (hitch mount) I've tried slop around and make lots of noise.
This locking hitch pin pulls the stinger tight to one side of the receiver, so that it doesn't rattle and clunk around. Note that this will *NOT* work with solid stingers. The stinger must be hollow to this clamping lock pin to work.

Good idea bad designNov 09, 2011
By Littleguy Guy Thought this would quiet my hitch...which it did for one trip. But the heart of the anti-rattle device is a soft plastic piece which must not be tightened according to the instructions more than 60 ft-lbs. So having a torque wrench handy I tightened the bolt to 60 ft-lbs and off we went. But after 300 miles the hitch was rattling again. Disassembly revealed that the plastic piece was indeed broken. On returning home I contacted the manufacturer and returned the broken part to them at my expense. I promptly received a replacement, installed it, tightened it to only 40 ft-lbs, only to have it break without ever getting on the road. I'm done with Softride. I then got the one from U-Haul which was less money, an all metal design, and have had no problems with it after towing with it for over 3000 miles.
