Titanium saved my life...Apr 11, 2012
By LesnOfYerLif3 Look...people are going to call me out on this but I am still going to post it. Titanium saves lives - it saved mine. I took three hits from an AK-74 at close range. If I had been wearing anything other than Dragon Skin, the second and third rounds would have penetrated my armor. This is the advantage of Titanium - even if it isn't in the form of 2 inch disks. The metal will bend and deform, but it won't break into small shards and end up like broken glass. I highly encourage any person looking to create a bullet-resistant vest to protect themselves from small arms (7.62 x 54mm and smaller) to consider this option in conjunction to an anti-trauma insert. Provided you can "fit" both plates in the front and the back - you have a multi-hit system that will last, even if you are shot in the same place twice. Titanium is also more durable than ceramics (which tend to actually degrade over time - especially in colder environments). This option is lighter, better and cheaper so I don't really understand why people would go with another option.

BEST OPTIONApr 05, 2012

Have used Ceramics and they can take a hit but that's the end of those plates were you to take a second hit in the same plate you better hope your soft Armour stops the round. Titanium Plates are very Lite and offer the max in protection with your soft Armour. Ole saying goes, Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. Figure it out. Peace.
